Patrick “Paddy McCarthy” McCarthy was signed by Alan “Pards” Pardew from Leicester “…over land and sea and Leicester” City in the summer of 2007 to cover the relegation-induced loss of Talal El Karkouri and Souleymane Diawara.
Dublin-born McCarthy has been capped at U16, U19, U20, U21 and “B” level by Ireland, but has a fat chance of making it through to the full squad if he defends as badly as he did when Stoke City lump Jon Parkin nutmegged him in the box before sliding home the winner. Described by some as “no nonsense”, his performance in that match would be better described as “no good”.
My mother and brother in law spotted Paddy in Chislehurst at 1.00 today, I guess he isn't playing first team!!!!
